The Losers | Movie Review

I have mentioned this film repeatedly over the last 7 years of my life. It's my fave film of all time, and is one I can watch over and over, without getting bored of it. I mentioned it enough times on twitter that Columbus Short, who plays Pooch in this movie - also known as Harrison from Scandal - now follows me on there. This is the perfect action movie with a star studded cast, so if you're into a good action sequence, then give this a shot.

The Losers

Released: April 23rd 2010

Cast: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Óscar Jaenada, and Jason Patric

Director: Sylvain White

Plot: Loosely based on the Vertigo comics of the same name, The Losers follows an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. They find themselves the target of a deadly betrayal, a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the Losers makes plans to even the score, when they're joined by a mysterious woman, named Aisha. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war. (Partially taken from IMDB)

My rating: ★★★★★

Review

There are plenty of small laughs, serious moments, and the cliché action sequences - such as: a bomb about to go off, but the good guys stop it with seconds spare, guns and explosions, the mystery woman, etc. You'll also find plenty of quote-worthy moments during the film, that you'll find yourself saying over time. I can't help but quote some of Clay and Pooch's lines when I'm doing odd jobs!
The cast is a fantastic combination, and you'll recognize most of them from the Marvel movies, and even the Walking Dead.

We start off with getting to know this team, seeing them give up their lives to stay safe, and living in Bolivia until the time comes when Aisha comes to take them home to get their revenge. There's plenty of Bond villain-esque moments with Max and his world destroying technology, all under guard of his right-hand man, Wade.  They have some revelations, shootouts and have fun blowing things up on their way to take back their lives.

Honestly, the trailer doesn't do this film any justice. I saw this when it was on DVD almost a year after it's release. This is the film that made me get into Chris Evans and his movies. This is what started it all!

It's very underrated, but it's a classic in my opinion. The film characters, resemble the comic characters almost exactly. Down to mannerisms, hair cuts, accessories and even faces! Jensen  and Pooch are my faves in the comics, so I was super happy to see them so alike in the movie.

If you haven't seen this film yet, I beg you to give it a try as it's one that I am determined to get as many people to see as possible. If you have already seen it, what did you think of the movie overall? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)
