Monthly Favourites #23 - March

Another month is over already! Where is 2017 going?? So much of my month has been spent at work, but I've got a few days off this week, so going to try and have fun with it. Now it's time to dive into my faves of the month!

Song
This song has been playing all over the radio this past month, and it's soooo good. Love Little Mix!! Also been singing this with Sydnie at work, so we need to have a sing to this in the car for Sunday Club as well! Also, how awesome are the outfits in this video!?!

Picture
My favourite picture from this month is this one of me with both of Nicola's daughter's! I've not spent any proper time with Andi for aaaages, and this was the first time I got to see Brooke for a long period of time too! Love these little ladies a lot, and was so nice to have some baby hugs and watch kid shows with them!

TV Show
I only started to watch Chicago Med at the end of February, so I've not done bad to catch up with all of season one and then 15 episodes of season two so far! I love a good hospital drama - I'm looking at you Grey's - and this is just as good. If not better. I'm neck deep in the One Chicago programmes and this, along with the recently released Chicago Justice, has made me love it all the more. And also, can we get a little loving for Brian Tee as Dr Choi? I'm obsessed with him ❤️

Movie
Please don't kill me, but I've not actually seen the 90's version of this film since I was about 5!
I've got the soundtracks, seen the trailers and a dozen fan made videos over the years... But I vaguely remember watching this on VHS when I was about 3/4 so I have literally no memory of it. Remember I'm a Mulan girl!!
I went to see this on Saturday, and it was AMAZING. I loved Emma as Belle and she can sing. She looked beautiful in the classic yellow dress, and the whole film was magical. I'm not the biggest Disney classics fan, so was pleased that it made me smile! I promise to watch the original before I go to Florida this year!

Bullet Journal
This month's fave BuJu page is my attempt at a new weekly layout. I'm not massively happy with it, but it was good for those two weeks! Definitely an option if I'm ever in a rush to draw a week up!

Hope you enjoyed these faves for March! What have you loved this month from each category? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe!

Dear Ex-Friends

Friends come and go. Some stay forever, some are about for a few years, and other are a mere blink of an eye. I firmly believe that everyone we meet and interact with, is for a purpose. May it be a lifelong friend or a stranger that so much as gives you a smile in passing.

I've had quite a few friends in my almost 25 years of life. I've currently got a best friend of 9 years, another best friend who I've known since I was 2 years old, a few others that have come into my life in the past year or so. There have been friends who I had in my life for long and short periods of time, all of which have in some way, helped me become who I am today.

So here is a little letter to some of my ex-friends who had a lasting impression on me, for right or wrong!

K.S
Friends for about seven years, we knew each other at pre-school and then all through primary and junior school! You were my very first best friend! We did a lot together, such as my first sleepover, first school dance and were about for each other's first crushes and boyfriends. We parted ways when we went to different secondary schools, but we're still friends on Facebook, and I'm so happy to see how your life has turned out! You were, and still are, one of the kindest people I've known, and you now take part in beauty pageants - watch out other girls!
You taught me what it was like to be a best friend and what a best friend is to someone. Though we don't speak anymore, you'll always be part of many special memories.

S.M
I first met you in the last few years of primary school and then through junior school we got to become friends. We also ended up going to the same secondary school together, in the same form group as well, and had a few classes together. As soon as we went to secondary school, you blew me aside for your more 'popular' friends and then when I went off and made new friends you got pissed off at me. You're the one that didn't want to be 'seen with someone' like me.
I'm glad that happened as you turned out to be SUCH A BITCH. You were always rude to anyone who wasn't in your 'clique', or had the right hair/clothes/accessories. You bullied my sister and when I stood up for her, you left her alone and then started on me. This lasted all of secondary school. 7 years of this.
But it is because of you being such a cow, that I grew such a thick skin. Nothing about me or how I was, was ever right to you. All the bitchiness and shit you threw at me, bounced off of me. I got quite impervious to your nasty words and ways. I remember checking your Facebook a few years after we all left school, and you hadn't changed a damn bit.

J.B
You were my best friend for about 9/10 years. Technically 11, but we didn't exactly speak a lot in the last 18 months of our friendship. I want to say that is mainly my fault. As soon as you left secondary school to go to collage, things started going a bit awry. It was harder to meet up due to school, and I will say it was also down to me wanting to see my at-the-time-boyfriend a lot. I'm to blame for that. I also want to say thank you for being there for me when me and him split up. What you done for me that day and the few months after, were so kind of you. Thank you.
And then that's when you met your now husband. I only met him about 5/6 months into your relationship, by which point you were living together. You both told me you were going to get engaged soon and I saw how happy you were. And that's when I think it happened. I saw you with someone who really made you happy - your new best friend. I didn't feel you needed me anymore, so I pushed you away.
And that's on me.
I was jealous you'd found someone who made you so happy and would spend the rest of you life with. I realised that the second I saw you both together for the first time. I see from your wedding pictures just how happy you both are. At the time, I was still single and felt so incredibly alone and self-conscious all the time. This was also about the same time I started having super bad panic attacks, and Nicola was the only one who I'd really spoken to about it, so she was the one I shared that with.
I am so sorry if you feel I pushed you away, shoved you aside for Nic, or treated you badly. You were my best friend for so long and through my teenage/young adult life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything in those 10 years - you're the friend I miss the most.

J&L
Oh you two. I honestly don't know what happened with us all. One day we were all best friends, the next you both pushed against it and then one day, you'd just gone. I still, to this day, do not have a clue what went wrong. Why you didn't want to be friends with us anymore. It's like something happened over that Christmas that I was clearly oblivious to and you just decided you didn't want to be friends anymore. There has been no closure here at all.
But, I don't regret the 3/4 years we had as friends and all the fun adventures we all had with each other. The mini holidays, the fun nights out, and the late nights chatting about life while semi-drunk on your sofa.

What you say to your former friends? Or have you always had the same friends since childhood? I'd love to know your stories, so please tell me! This was so fun to write and oddly therapeutic, as I usually find these things! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Picture Perfect #11

It's Thursday night. I'm super tired and ready to climb into bed, and it's only 8:42pm... I've done two 6am starts at work in a row, and for some reason they've drained me! SOOO tired. However I need to get a post out and ready for tomorrow, so what's a better space filler than this month's Picture Perfect!?

It was due for next week, but I've bumped it up a few days instead! I've not taken many pictures at all this month, it's been a bit quiet in my slice of the world, so here's a few snaps of what I have taken pics of this month!

These are SO YUMMY

Had cheese and beans on toast, for the first time in years!

Showing off my selfie light!

Picked up a 'Mickey/Minnie Mouse' themed backpack

Easter egg lunch break with Josie!

Playing Guildhall with Mike & Cam!

I'm now ready to crawl into bed and get a good sleep, as I'm off out with Nicola tomorrow night! Yay!!

Hope you've all had a pretty nice March so far, and a good start to this year overall! What have you all been up to lately? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Top 5 Fave Disney Movies

As some of you know, I'm off to Florida this year, which means we're going to be hitting up Disney World - which I am SUPER excited about. I've been having a few nights in with a Disney film of late, and these are my top 5 Disney films, which I've been loving for ages now!

Mulan

Tangled

Brave

Basil The Great Mouse Detective

Pirates of the Caribbean

Mulan, Tangled and Brave are all ones I can watch over and over again, even if it's just on as background noise while I do other things! I love to sing along to the Mulan songs at the top of my lungs, so imagine my disappointment when they announced there would be no songs in the live action movie version!?!!

Basil the Great Mouse Detective is a childhood favourite that I used to force my Dad to watch with me as Fidget scared the living shit out of me as a kid. Even at 24 years old, he stills creeps me out!

And Pirates... The first movie is amazing and I've seen it more times that I can count! The second one was pretty decent, the third was okay and the fourth... I've seen that once. Don't think I'll watch it a second time! I am excited to go on the Pirates ride in Magic Kingdom though.

What are your top 5 Disney movies? Do we have any that are similar? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

'You Don't Smile Much, Do You?'

It was Saturday morning, 6:05am to be exact. I'd just arrived back at work for my 6am shift after only finishing at 10pm Friday night. I was super tired after having a little over 2 hours sleep due to a not-so-fun asthma attack at 1am. I was a bit cold, exhausted, and my chest hurt like hell from coughing all night because I couldn't breathe.

I was setting up my deli counter, still a bit bleary eyed and wishing for my bed to suddenly appear, when I heard one of the night workers say it. 'You don't smile much, do you?'

I didn't think much of it as he was talking to some other night workers at the time who were near him. Then I heard him say it again. 'You don't smile much, do you?'

I then looked up, like 'WTF is he saying it for twice??' Only to look up and see him staring right at me as he leaned on the trolley full for goods he was supposed to be putting out on the shelves. I just blinked for a second and went, 'huh?'

'You don't smile much, do you?'

Okay... So he was talking to me. I just gave a half assed laugh and shrugged and went 'yeah well I'm tired!' But that wasn't good enough. He just laughed and said, 'a young girl of your age? Tired Teenagers!' He then walked off.

Dude, I'M TWENTY FUCKING FOUR.

Now, not for a moment do I feel he meant it maliciously or thought he was being rude to say so, or that I might not have appreciated the comment. But why make a comment, at all, about my resting bitch face??

I'd just been minding my own business and getting my deli counter all set up before the supermarket doors opened, and was in my own world of date coding all the meats I was putting out, when he said it to me. I was honestly a little taken aback. Had I really looked that tired/pissed off/absent, that he felt the need to comment on why my facial muscles weren't taut in a smile?

What did he want me to be like at bloody 6am after two hours sleep? Did he want me to be smiling like the Joker while singing a jolly tune? Did he want me to come in with jazz hands and grinning like the Cheshire Cat?

Evidence of an actual smile!
Had I always come in for those early shifts with a face of thunder on me?

The thing was, not a minute before he said anything, I'd been stood giggling with Josie about how goddamn tired we were after doing the late shift and then the early. We were laughing about being sleeping zombies. So he'd obviously not seen that moment, and just assumed I was a moody cow? Apparently so.

It's clearly pissed me off enough for me to write a damn blog post on it, but hey, THERAPY IN TYPING.

My point here is, why did he feel the need to comment on my facial expressions when we'd not spoken at all before, nor knew each other, or even said a greeting before the sarcastic comment? Why say anything at all? Had I said something like that to him, I'm sure he'd not have been thrilled about it either.

My conclusion is that he's a dick, and I don't anticipate talking to him again nor giving a crap if he tries to get my attention again. I also don't even know his name. That's how little I know this man.

I'm usually quite a smiley, happy and chirpy person at work. I've been told by people it's rare I'm not smiling when I'm there, or ever see me get too annoyed by things. So I had a slip up of my usual self. So sue me.

And yay for me, for being self indulgent and using a selfie of me for the header image for this post.

Anywhooo, hope you all had a great weekend and have a fabulous Monday to kick off your week!! Have you had any comments like this out of the blue before? If so, please let me know as I'd love to know how you dealt with it! Maybe a passive aggressive blog post like mine (haha)! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

The Fabulous Five

First off, Happy St. Patrick's Day!! It's also payday for me, so I'm off to hunt down items on my wishlist! But before I get to that, I wanted to share a list of five fabulous ladies with you.

I've been trying to get back into the habit of reading and commenting on a lot more posts this year. So far I've not done too bad with this, but I'm still trying to improve! While doing this, I fallen back in love with a load of blogs I've read for years, and also found some new gems to get glued into.

These are my current fabulous five blogs that I've been adoring so much this year! Please go check them all out, as they're all super awesome!

*****
Skinnedcartree has been a fave of mine for about two or so years now, and it's the one blog I religiously check back to each day. Corinne has got some super relatable posts, great wishlists, handy blog tips and tools, and so much content to read. It's a blog I adore and can only hope to ever get to that standard on my slice of the internet!

****
Hello Steph has been a blog fave for a while now. She's super geeky like I am, and we have many of the same interests, so her blog is a goldmine. Steph has such a great blog, and is also really into health and fitness, and even though I'm a couch potato, I can live vicariously through her posts! Love her blog!

****
Kelly and Lucy from The Blossom Twins are not only Pro Wrestlers, but also geeking blogging goddesses. Steph introduced their blog to me, and I'm so thankful she did as the blog is filled with geeky posts, reviews, twin life and so much more. I love the geeky posts the most as I love to see what their opinions are on things. I've also recently found out they love the TV show Chuck, so I'm even more of a fan now!

****
The Howling Wolf Heart has been a geek blog fave for the past year as, again, we share many geeky fandoms as well a love of geek items. Her Hot Topic wishlists make me want to spend all my money, but I've resisted well so far!  Also, can we all just take a second to appreciate how badass her blog header is?!?

****
Cassie's blog, Zombie Goddess Beauty is a new fave since the start of the year! I found her blog while looking through a geek tag on twitter and it popped up! I checked it out and rejoiced at finding another geeky blogger! I have a geeky blogger love thing going on in this post... Cassie has some amazing blog posts for beauty reviews and also her geeky posts too. I'm just super jealous of her lipstick skills - it's on fire. I still look like a 4 year old drew mine on while blindfolded!

*****
So there are my fabulous five! Pretty much all geeky themed girls, but that's where it appeals to me! Hope you liked this and even found a few new blogs to check out! What blogs are in your top five? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Geek Out Time Playlist

Last month, I shared with you my playlist for when I'm working out. So this month I've decided to share with you my geeky playlist, of all the songs I usually listen to when reading my comic books - or even just something fun to boogie to when doing housework!

And yay for that awesome title pic of me and my cousins and Comic Con last year! 😂

These are all from TV or Film soundtracks, offical or otherwise - but I love them all, and can sing along to so many of them!

There are also HUNDREDS more for this list, but these are the ones that I absolutely love. I was so tempted to link to the 10 hours Cantina song version, but I resisted... I'd love to add all the Harry Potter, LOTR, Hobbit and Star Wars sound tracks to this list, but that would be scarily long!

Hope you enjoyed this! What songs are on your geeky playlist? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)
