Monthly Favourites #25 - May

Another month is over already! Where is 2017 going?? So much of my month has been spent at work, but I've got a few days off this week, so going to try and have fun with it. Now it's time to dive into my faves of the month!

Song
This song has been a firm fave since I saw Guardians Vol 2! I've got the soundtrack and love all of the songs - they're constantly on in my car - but this one has such a good retro vibe to it! Yes it's a new original song for the film, but it's done in such a great style that I'm obsessed with it!

Picture
My favourite picture from this month is this one from my trip to Lakeside with Nicola last week! We're just done a mass try on of Ann Summers swimwear so took a quick snap once we were both decent again! Had a great day out!

TV Show
I am obsessed with the #OneChicago franchise, and I'm super sad that Chicago Justice has been cancelled after only one season! However, it's flagship show, Chicago Fire has just had the most awesome finale this season - and HOLY SMOKE. There are 5 main cast members in peril in a factory fire and we have no idea who will come out - although from the looks of things, lovely Mouch died from a heart attack in the final minutes. But this is something I hope I misinterpreted and he doesn't! The finale was amazing, can't wait for fall now!

Movie
I adored this movie! This has very quickly risen up into my top 3 fave all time films. The story, soundtrack and characters were all amazing like the first movie, but there was something about this that just made me want to watch it over and over. I loved baby Groot more than I can say, and the ending. OMG THE ENDING. I saw the midnight screening and 90% of the cinema were in tears at the ending.

No bullet journal section this month as I've not taken an pictures of it for a while! Hope you enjoyed these faves for May! What have you loved this month from each category? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe!

'If I Had A Little Money... It's A Rich Man's World'

There are many ways to save money. Some are easier than others, as I've found out since the start of my working adulthood.

You can get savings accounts, piggy banks, stock shares and even saving up points on loyalty cards. As I've been saving for Florida for the past two years, there are many ways I've gone about saving up for large expenditures.

Savings Account
Each month I put away £150-£200 into a savings account for holidays, and then £30-£50 in a secondary savings account. As I have two savings accounts, I use one to make sure I have a small savings amount for any sudden payouts - such as car failure, medical issues, technology issues, and more. This way I don't take out anything from the holiday account - which is there to pile up a nice large amount, so that when a holiday does come around, I've already got a chunk of the fees covered.

Loyalty Cards
I'm a sucker for a loyalty card. I have a Morrisons card to help get £5 vouchers with every 5000 points, a Superdrug and Boots cards to get ££ off purchases after racking up points. I have about 10 loyalty cards and use them as often as I can at the tills to rack up points to help with later purchases. For example, I have £8 on my Superdrug card, which I'm saving to use for my summer holiday items, so I can save a little money!

Piggy Bank
I'm a lover of piggy banks. I have one that I fill up with 1p and 2p coins, and when it's full I bag them up into £1 bags and go bank them into my account. Currently, I also have a second piggy bank for £2 coins - and this is going towards my holiday to Florida. I had to open it recently to get rid of the old £5 notes I had also put in there, and I had managed to get about £120 in a year in mainly coins. If you were to fill it right up, you can usually get about £250 in the tins.

52 Weeks Saving Challenge
As you may have seen, I'm doing a savings challenge this year to save up £1378. You just put away an amount that corresponds with the week of the year. So week 20 you put away £20, etc and so on. I'm doing mine a little backwards and doing the larger amounts at the start of the year, and so far I've got £626 in my savings account!

Work Stock Shares
At work, for a small fee of £5 a month which you pay into a shares account, you can then save up to about £380 over 3 years. Because this is automatically taken out of my wages without me doing anything, I don't notice the money not there. In 3 years time, I'll get a nice sum of £380+ into my account, and that can then be put straight into a holiday account! Definitely worth it for that amount at a later date.

No Spends
My final resort for saving money is, doing 'no spends' now and then. I tried to do it for a month and sucked at it - so made new rules. I cancelled all my subscription boxes as I wasn't really enjoying them anymore, and also cancelled all the direct debits that I no longer needed to pay out for. I also put a ban on myself to stop buying these things for a month here and there:

  • magazines
  • no beauty items unless I need them as an essential (skin/hair care)
  • stop buying meal deals - eat what's already at home
  • no extra lottery tickets (already do a monthly direct debit for tickets)
  • home haircuts and beauty treatments

How do you save up money and stick to it? And did you find any of the ideas above helpful? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Strike A Pose!

Last month I won a giveaway from Makeupwithjayxo on Twitter, and the prize was this Barry M Lip Kit, in the shade Pose. I loved the shade of this, and though not the biggest lipgloss fan, I do love a matte shade - so wanted to give it ago if I won it.

I won it a few days later and when it arrived, I love the simple packaging and the fact that I finally had a lip colour with a matching lip liner pencil.

For £6.99 from Boots, this is a much cheaper version on the Kylie Lip Kits that are plastered all over my Instagram feed these days. The colour is a nude pink shade, and the lip liner and gloss definitely work with each other.

The matte formula isn't too drying, but it did take a couple of minutes for it to dry into it's matte form. It's simple to apply with the lip liner, and where they match so well with each other, the overal finish is really good!

Have you tried this lip kit? Let me know! Anything that's cheaper than a celeb endorsed product is always good in my books. Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

10 Facts About Me

Ha, look at my playing with my Barney the Dinosaur toy when I was 3! I was so cute...

I've been looking back at some of my old blog posts recently, and noticed that I don't really have many posts purely about me so you can get to know me a little better. So to share a little more about me along with a few fun pictures of my childhood! Enjoy!

  • I was born with a massive red birthmark in the center of my forehead. It's faded a little over the years, but still 'lights up' when I'm mad/sad or anxious. It's been dubbed as my 'beacon' to my family!
  • I've been at the same job for a little under 6 years, and it's also my first job
  • I identify as a Wiccan - this is still new to me, but I love it
  • My fave American candy is Junior Mints! I usually buy 10+ boxes each year at Comic Con!
  • I've suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for about 10 years now

  • I really hate driving on the motorway
  • I've recently started cutting my own hair, and though not perfect - doesn't look too bad!
  • I am a massive comic book / superhero movie fangirl
  • My fave song of the moment is Ugly Heart by G.R.L
  • I have so many medical issues right now, but hoping with more tests, Dr's can find out what's wrong and I can start feeling better soon!

What are 10 facts about you that you want to share? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

The Struggle Is Real!!

I love a good beauty product, but there are some I really hate using or just cannot get along with. Thankfully, only a short list of things I struggle with in the beauty world, but I'm hoping I'm not the only one who has problems with these things!

Show me some love in the comments, so I know I'm not alone!

Lipgloss
It's sticky, runny, get's all in my hair and, never stays in place. I hate the texture of this so much. I find the only kind of lipgloss I can work with is matte ones. Anything that shimmery, plumps or has glitter in it is a massive HELL NAW. I always manage to smudge it within seconds of applying it, and it comes off at the slightest touch of a straw, drink or food. Plus getting it on food makes me want to gag something chronic!

Highlighter
Oh so pretty and I love how so many of you girls can apply this. But when I do - irregardless of the brand or product type - it looks naff. I either put a generous amount on me and it barely shows up, or I slather myself in it, and barely shine. Maybe it's my skin type or just how I'm putting it on - but it just doesn't work for me.

Beauty Blenders
Where do I start with this one? For applying face/body paint for comic con, they work wonders. For attempting foundation and concealer... Awful. I've tried both wet and dry and neither works for me. Wet/damp just smears it around my face, and dry it manages to do half a cheek and then I have to apply five or six times as much foundation as I would when using my brushes. Can't get along with a beauty blender, no mater the amount of brands I've tried - all were crap for me!

Do any of you struggle with these same things? And if so, any tips on how to help me out!? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Disney Movies I've Never Seen

With there being so many Disney films in the world, a few were sure to slip through the net of me watching them! Some out of choice, others because I've not go around to seeing them yet.

I could only think of four that I've never seen at all, but I'm sure there are many more! I've seen bits of some, but don't remember the film well - or there are those I watched as a baby/toddler and have memory of at all!

The Princess And The Frog

Sleeping Beauty

Pocahontas

Moana

The Princess and the Frog is one I've never got around to watching and though I'm sure it's good, I don't feel like I'm missing out by not watching it! I also have no idea what it's about - apart from the main girl is called Tiana!

Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas are two 'classics' that I've never seen, but know about them due to friends, Disney stories and the wonderful world of Tumblr. I know most of Sleeping Beauty and what it's about, but don't know a lot about Pocahontas, other than a few songs from the movie!

Moana is the latest Disney film to have come out at the end of 2016, and I just didn't have time to see this at the cinema. I am hoping to get this on DVD and watch it before I go to Florida, as I'm sure there is going to be a lot of merch with her on it - plus it features The Rock, so I definitely need to see it!

What Disney films have you never seen before? Please let me know so I know I'm not on my own for this! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)
