Most Underrated Disney Movie

There's a lot of movies that Disney have done that I don't feel are loved too much universally. It's not many, and it's mainly a few of the classics that slipped through the net over the years. So which Disney movie do I feel is the most underrated?

Basil the Great Mouse Detective.

This film was simultaneously the best and scariest film I watched when I was a kid. By the time I was 8, it was no longer scary to me, and it became a fave. I watched it so much with my sister that we drove Mum mad. Over and over, each day until the VHS tape started skipping little bits here and there.

It was released in 1986, so 6 years before I was even born! I have no idea when I first watched it, who showed it to me, or how old I was. But I remember watching it a lot before school back in the 90's, so I remember being about 4/5 years old when the obsession began.

I loved little Olivia, and her dad the toy maker. I was terrified by Ratigan and Fidget - the latter gave me nightmares for ages - but I still insisted on watching it repeatedly. It wasn't until I was a pre-teen that I realised it was loosely based on Sherlock Holmes, which just made me love it even more.

I recently bought it on DVD and have been reliving my childhood again!

What was your fave Disney movie as a child, and which Disney movie do you think is seriously underrated? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

  1. I've actually never seen this! In my opinion Big Hero 6 is the most underrated Disney movie, it gets overlooked all the time
