June 2018 Faves

Oh what a month it's been. I've had a lot of time at work this month, plus a sick day off due to my paralysis kicking in, which was a hoot, I'll tell you! It's been gloriously hot and sunny for the best part, and also had a thunderstorm back at the start. I've seen an old school friend a lot these last few weeks, which has been really nice!

I've sort of got back into the blog a bit more now, but I'm still not at my full mojo for it, so I'm doing my best to keep at it and see if I can get the full love for my little baby back. It's weird not blogging when I enjoy it so much, but it's also feeling like a chore a little bit. Does anyone else get like that?

Anyway, hope you're all well, and here are my monthly faves!

Song
This is a song is still pretty new for once - yay! I love Florida Georgia Line's music, and this new one is another fave of theirs. I love the lyrics and then meaning behind it, so can't wait for their new album now!

News Story
'JK Rowling Sent A Box Of Harry Potter Presents To School Children In Northern India'
I love nothing more than a good story of a celeb helping the less fortunate in the world, and JK Rowling has done it again. 12 year old, Kulsum Bano Batt, wrote an essay about how inspiring she found the author, and Rowling then sent them a load of goodies, books, and signed memorabilia - for the girl and her school.

    TV Show
I am finally catching up on my TV shows and this one has been a fave for the last few years, but the ending of the latest season broke my heart. No worries, I'm not going to spoil it! I've actually re-watched the last 5 seasons over the past month or so, and it reminded me of why I loved the show. Plus I have a HUGE crush of Kevin Atwater, so that's a plus...

    Film
I have been re-watching the Marvel movies this month - so far I've got to Iron Man 2, so not massively far but..! I forgot how much I loved the OG of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this has made it to the top of my list this month!

    Picture
Fave picture of the month is this one of some cupcakes that I made! It's actually from the end of last month, but as I skipped the faves in May, it's made it to June's list! These are the first ones I've made in about 3 years, and they were so yummy!

Hope you enjoy this new format of my monthly faves - please let me know what you think as I'd love to hear your opinions! How has your June been, and what are your faves from the categories above? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Orlando Holiday Diary: Day 15 - Islands Of Adventure!

Our second to last day was an early start to head to Islands of Adventure for the day! We had the rest of the park to do, and then would go back to Universal for the last part of the day.

We headed into the Marvel area, and straight through to the Jurassic Park River ride. It was closed for maintenance last time we had come, so wanted to get the water ride out of the way so we could dry off.

After the Jurassic Park ride, we went back to the Marvel section, and went on: The Hulk, Dr Doom's Fearfall, and Spider-Man's Adventure. Sadly the Fantasic 4 ride was shut for some issues, so we skipped it.

From here, we went to the Poseidon Fury attraction, which is a walk through show. It's a really good attraction, and is a good indoor, air-conditioned thing to do in the heat!

Dad was let loose with Poseidon's trident, so we took some fun pictures of him with it! After this, we wanted to see the Sinbad show, but it was a bit early for the show time, so we wandered off to Hogwarts...

We went in the shops again in Hogsmeade, so we could waste 30 minutes before the show, before going back to Sinbad.

We loved this show when we went in 2001, but it's not such a popular one now, so there are a lot of seats going spare during the show. There was also a wet zone which soaked some poor woman a few rows ahead of us! I still liked the show, but it's a little dated now - even with the addition of a Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball joke.

After the show, we headed to the Comic Strip cafe to get some food as we were starving! I had a pizza and side salad which was delicious, and even came with garlic bread - I was so full up after this!

From here, we got into a small queue for the Hogwarts Express to Universal Studios, and got to see the ride for the other direction.

We went into some of the shops again, before making our way to the exit, and bought far too much again! We headed back to the villa and chilled for the evening, before it was our final full day tomorrow.

What's your fave ride in Islands of Adventure? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

    My Top 5 Clothes Stores

I have a serious shopping problem. I'm always buying new clothes, and I rarely need new ones, but ALL THE PRETTY THINGS! I've got a lot better over the last year with my new clothes habit, but that doesn't stop me looking online or in store at new goodies I want to get my hands on. These are in no order in particular, but these are all my current faves!

    Primark
I still can't believe they don't have an online store yet... Anyway this is my go-to for basics and cheap items. I've recently bought some new dresses from here, which I love. I mainly come in here now for shoes, bags, and any clothing with Disney or Harry Potter on it! Primark are really good at stocking geeky tees, so this is where a lot of my money goes.

    Yours Clothing
The wonderful plus sized store, which actually does tops that fit my big ole chest, but actually fits elsewhere. I've spent so much in this store over the last couple of years. There is always a good sale online, so I've always after a bargain! I've got some really beautiful dresses and tops from here.

    Peacocks
This is my go-to for lingerie and jeans. Primark jeans only last a few months for me, so the Peacocks ones are a higher quality and will last a good year at least. #ThiccThighs
They stock lovely DD+ bras which have a good long life on them too.

    Select
I struggle to find tops in here, but they always have a plethora of dresses that I adore and I've had a few maxi and skater dresses from here over the years. I love their shoes as well, plus their accessories section. This is one of my fave places to come to get a new handbag or heels.

    Everything5Pounds
An online only shop, this is a place end-of-line items come to get sold for £5. There's new releases everyday, and I've managed to get some really nice shoes and tops from here over the last 10 years. I don't come on here as often as I once did, but it's still a good shop to come and look at if you're after a little bargain or some quirky shoes or bags.

What are your fave clothes stores? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

    Picture Perfect | June 2018

I haven't done a picture update for ages on my blog, so thought I'd try and get back into it here and there. I don't take many pictures anymore, so I'll only be doing this every few months as an update - or more often if I've been busy!

Here are a few pictures of what I've been up to since the end of March. Enjoy!

Had a few shopping trips to town, that all ended with a Subway visit!

Watched/ slightly helped my dad and sister clear out the gutters around the house!

Had a shopping day and dinner out with Nicola!

Been to the cinema twice with Dad, to see Infinity War and Deadpool 2!

Got back into baking a little, and made the delicious treats!

Went to the Potter Studio Tour

I've been obsessively watching RuPaul's Drag Race, and I sooo want Eureka to win!!

Hope June has been treating you well so far. What have you all been up to this month? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Tania’s Tips: The Best Ways To Cure Your Boredom At Home*

table wood girl woman home asian living room furniture room couch interior design library design books shelves flower vase

Ahh, home sweet home! For the most part, there’s no better place to be. Sometimes, however, it can get a little boring. After all, the hectic nature of modern life means that most of us have simply forgotten how to relax.

Well, worry no more. Here are five fantastic ways to keep yourself occupied during their rare moments of peace around the home. Embrace them immediately, and your leisure time will become far more satisfying.

    Read A Book
Sometimes in life, the humble book has all the answers. Of course, you could download them to an iPad or a Kindle. However, I honestly believe there’s something special about having a physical copy of a book (or comic) to read. Those magical pages can take your mind anywhere and are collectibles as well as wonderful forms of entertainment.

Unless you find a first edition Harry Potter book... In that case, please feel free to send it my way instead!

    Play Games
Video games don’t have the geeky stigma that they once did. They are suitable for everyone from self-confessed nerds to the cool college kids. There are plenty of different genres to choose from while virtual reality and interactive games are great fun too. You can even win money with casino gaming activities and should visit Juuwin.com for more info. The excitement is incredible.

Console, PC, or smartphone doesn’t matter. Gaming is a great way to pass the time in style for people of all backgrounds and gaming abilities.

    Do Yoga
I’m not one to tell everyone that they should spend hours in the gym. However, a little yoga or meditation can work wonders for body, mind, and soul. Whether you have a few minutes or a whole hour, it’s just you and your inner peace. A little soothing music can also certainly help the cause. While I probably don’t do it enough, it certainly makes me feel better.

In fact, now I’ve said it; I’ll endeavour to start practicing it far more often. After all, the benefits are enormous.

    Write Something
Writing is an incredibly therapeutic thing to do. Whether you start a blog, write a diary, or try creating a short story doesn’t matter. Expressing your thought or creative visions can feel liberating. Check out Thewritersacademy.co.uk to learn about writing competitions. You could potentially win a prize as well as gain some serious recognition.

If nothing else, it’s a great way to connect with other people that share similar interests. What more incentive could you need?

    Watch TV
It’s the tried and tested option, but there’s no doubt that watching your favourite shows and films is a winner. The way in which we consume visual media has evolved, with Netflix and other streaming services now considered king. Meanwhile, YouTube and platforms for individual creators can provide great entertainment too.

Best of all, those on-demand services enable us to binge watch those shows without huge wait times between each episode. Oh, and no adverts either. Yay!

Orlando Holiday Diary: Day 14 - Mini Golf & Fantasmic!

We decided to have a relaxed Saturday away from the parks, so today was a quite one. We had a long swim in the pool in the morning, before heading off to a mini golf course just down the road from where we were staying. There were two 18 hole courses, which we did in just under 3 hours - in 33 degree heat - I was melting!

Dad, of course, won both of the games we played! After we were done, we headed over to Applebee's for an early dinner / late lunch. It was delicious as always, and definitely a place to eat if you're super hungry.

Then we went to Walmart to get some food and drink for the villa, and got back in the pool! While we were swimming about, we were talking about the shows at the Disney Parks that we hadn't seen yet, and decided we wanted to see Fantasmic when it was next on at Hollywood Studios.

After a quick shower, I saw that the show was on that night, so booked us three fastpasses for the show, so we'd be able to get there a little early to get some decent seats.

Sorry the pics are a bit naff - I am beyone useless at nighttime pictures! It was a really good show, and I loved getting to see all of the Disney characters come together for the show.

It took over an hour to get out of the arena and back to the main stretch of road, so we dodged into a few shops to get a few things so the queues could go down a little before we headed back home.

Sadly as we were leaving Fantasmic, the Star Wars show was starting, but we couldn't move out of the arena to see it in time.

I adored this show so much! What is your fave Disney World show that's currently on? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)
