Getting Into American Football

Week three of the NFL has just ended, so we're now gearing up for week four! I've enjoyed American Football for a while now - predominately watching the Super Bowl for the last 5 years running - but last year I managed to catch a few of the normal season games as well.

We were in Florida when the 2017 season started, so I managed to catch a few of the games in the time we were there. This year, however, I've bitten the bullet and bought the NFL Game Pass. I wanted to actually be able to see all the games. I'm a former fan of the New England Patriots, but have been all about the Miami Dolphins since 2017.

I've got merch for both teams! I own tops, key rings and hats - but I want to get more through the year for paydays and Christmas - but only of the Dolphins as that is where my allegiance is right now!

Watching the game last year!

So what is American Football? Here's a few of the basics if you're new to the sport.

The Basics
  • 53 players per team - only 11 on field at any time; defence and offence teams
  • Game plays is 4 sets of 15 minutes quarters
  • Each team gets 3 time outs, per half game
  • 12 minute half time (usually a show for the crowd during this time)
  • If a tie happens, there is 12 minutes for sudden death to try for a winner
  • Scoring is done by getting the ball into the team's endzone,  or scoring field goals, safety points, and extra points
Downs
  • There are 4 downs (aka plays/attempts) to get 10 yards
  • Each down is called 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
  • 4th down can be attempted, or team can try for a field goal
  • Example:  3rd down and 4, means it's the third attempt, and there are 4 yards to go
  • Once the 10 yards is gained, it resets to 1st down
Scoring
  • Touchdown - 6 points ~ Catch in the endzone, or cross over into the endzone
  • Field Goal - 3 points ~ Usually done on 4th down
  • Extra - 1 or 2 points ~ Kick through up right posts for 1 point, OR, attempt a 2 point 'touchdown'. 2 points are harder to get, so teams usually go for the kick
  • Safety -  2 points - To the defence team, when the offence team is tackled with the ball in their own endzone

I'm still learning the rules and working out how it all works together, but I really enjoy it! I've spent the last few Sunday nights watching the games at 6pm, and being engrossed in it. This week, the Patriots are against the Dolphins, so both of my fave teams against each other! I know who I want to win, but I'm also, in a way, rooting for them both.

BUT, the Dolphins have been doing amazing this season so far, so I kind of hope it's them!

Do you like the NFL - if yes, which team is your favourite? Let me know! And if you know anything about the game that you think I'd like to know, please tell me as I want to learn more about it! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Country Love

I've always enjoyed country music, but lately its become an obsession of sorts. I love the songs, the lyrics, and the music videos are always amazing.

Lately, it's all been about Florida Georgia Line. I first heard of them back in 2013, not long after Cruise came out in 2012 - and then the remix version came out, and I knew I was hooked on them. I own all their albums, EPs, and other songs they have done with other artists. I love their songs!

As I've been really enjoyed them lately, I wanted to share a few of my fave songs of theirs with you!

Cruise (Remix) Ft. Nelly

Confession

Dirt

May We All ft Tim McGraw

Simple

Heatwave

What country songs do you like, and do you like FGL? Let me know! Sorry this didn't go up on Monday - got all my dates confused so it's delayed a bit! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Mixed September Haul

Ooh look at me doing a cheat day blog post, by using a video! It's 11:26pm, the night before this post is due to go up, and I literally haven't a clue what to write! I've just done a 9 hour shift at work, so my brain cells are basically dead for the next 12 hours...

HOWEVER, I hadn't posted a video to my channel since May, and I'm pretty happy I finally done one, so wanted to share it over here on my slice of the net with you all.

Featuring some goodies from Primark, Disney, NFL, Amazon, and more - it's a bunch of things I've picked up over the last month or so.

Hope you enjoyed the video - I'll try and do a normal blog post on Monday next week! What is your fave thing from the haul? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

5 Things I Do When I'm Sick

I've been ill for about a week now - just a cold and super headaches, so nothing serious! But, it's been enough to slow me down and get me to rest up a lot. I'm sick of it to be really honest, and I'm over aching and feeling like my throat is constructed from sandpaper.

So, to try and boost my spirits, I thought I'd do a list of all the things I like to do when I'm sick - or just run down - so you can always pinch the idea for yourself when the time comes! These aren't the usual, 'rest, hydrate, meds' kind of post, it's a different perspective!

Binge Watch Something
Whether it be a tv show, a set of movies, or a bunch of home movies, you can do this easily. Snuggle up in bed or on the couch, and you're set! I spent most of last week tucked in bed, catching up on the NFL games I had missed the previous weekend.

Catch Up On Blogs
I'm so bad at this usually, but when I'm sick, I find it easy to lay in bed and read a load of blog posts for a few hours. I leave comments on a lot of them as well, so it makes me happy to catch up on them all!

Watch Anything On YouTube
I fell into a hole of hair tutorials, cake decorating ideas, and somehow onto 'how things were made' as well! I tend to put these on automatic play while laying down, so I can have background noise while I sleep! I also love putting fail videos on so I can have a giggle.

Online Browsing
This can be aimlessly scrolling through Facebook, online shopping without making purchases, or just googling random things. I don't do this too often as I end up wanting to buy all the things I put in my basket!

Create A Playlist
I have a 'sick' playlist that I'll have on in the bakground while I'm sleeping or just relaxing with a book. It's usually slow songs, or ones from the 90's that I've not heard in ages! I like to make a new one when I'm sick, so it's got some new songs on there that I love as well as the oldies!

What do you do when you're feeling sick or run-down and can't get out the house? Let me know! Here's to hoping I'm healthy come the weekend... Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

10 Things That Make Me Smile

I have a nasty cold right now, so forgive the briefness of this post! As I'm feeling a bit down on myself with this sore throat and head cold, I thought I'd do a quick post of some of the things that always bring a smile to my face!

PS. Don't forget to check out my giveaway

  1. Fresh bed sheets
  2. Trying out a brand new perfume
  3. New clothes
  4. Finishing a really good TV show season, and being able to immediately start the next season as you're catching up!
  5. Having a tidied and organised bedroom
  6. Binge watching Harry Potter
  7. When my fave song comes on the radio
  8. Hanging out with my sister!
  9. Having an entire 8 hours sleep, and not waking up at all during the night - so you feel totallu refreshed the next day
  10. Not having to set an alarm on your days off!

All of these put me in such a great mood, and will keep me happy for ages afterwards. Fingers crossed this cold buggers off soon, as it's my first day back at work after my week off, and I don't want to be in the cold deli while not feeling fab!

What are the top 10 things in your life, that always make you have a smile on your face? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Current Blog Faves!

There are billions of blogs out there right now, and you're probably still discovering news one every day. There are some I read daily, others now and then, and the rest are for when I have a quite hour of an evening to catch up on it all. I love a good blog post about travelling, Disney, latest beauty items, and even comic-con events. Here are my current blog faves!

AimeeRaindropWrites
I've followed Aimee for a while now, and have loved her blog since. I enjoy all her haul posts, and end up lusting over all the items - I'm basically mentally spending my money from the next payday before I even get it!

Nourish ME
Steph has way of writing totally honest posts that I can 100% relate to. Her recent post about blogging not being a business for her, was so honest and refreshing to read, and I totally got it. I know she's one of the few bloggers who just 'get it'!

The Blossom Twins
Loved these girls for over a year now, and they've been so much fun to get to know! I adore all their blog posts, and the personal ones are my true faves. I'm also super excited for Lucy's debut novel, which is out on Kindle right now, or paperback - due for an October 4th release!

Sophie Harris
Sophie has such an awesome blog, and covers a wide range of topics. I loved her blogging on a budget post, it's got me to check some of my expenses! She's also covered mental health a few times, and they've been super helpful.

Another Station Another Mile
Rachel's blog is a new one to me still, but I love it! Her recent round up of her year was sucha  good read, and honestly puts my lazy butt to shame! From Arizona, she's currently living in the UK for studying. Such a good blog if you love to hear about travelling.

Who would make your list for your current fave blogs? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

TV Shows I'm Excited About Returning

There are a lot of TV shows that I am hooked in, and I miss them now they are off air. However, it's almost Autumn, which means a handful of them are all due to come back! A few have finished forever - bye bye Scandal - and others are still going, but I'm just watching it to see if it gets any better. However, these shows are the ones I've been loving for ages now, so am excited to have them back.

Be warned, some of the below blog post, contains spoilers if you're not up to date.

One Chicago
Fire, PD and Med, are all returning, and on the same night! That's 3 hours of our #OneChicago shows! I'm still getting into Med, even three seasons in, but Fire and PD have me hooked. I'm so sad that Gabby has left Fire, and that Alvin was killed off in PD. Although, I'm hoping the latter was a ruse to save Voight, but we shall see!

Grey's Anatomy
This show has it's ups and downs. Some weeks I love it, and some weeks I just want it to end. However, after they thankfully didn't kill off April or Arizona, I'm happy to be back on the side of loving it. I can't wait to see what happens with Teddy - I mean, is her baby Owen's? What will happen with him and Amelia if it is?

Station 19
A spin off to Grey's. this follows former Dr Ben Warren at his new role at firehouse station 19. The season one finale was super, and left us on some real cliffhangers. I need to know what happens to Jack, and the rest of the team - and if Herrera's dad is alive after Miranda Bailey found him unconscious.

Supernatural
This had a few lows mid-season, but the last few episodes were a blast. The ended has been hinted at for years now, and it means that both brothers have now, eventually, taken on their demon/angel into the vessel. I hope they drag Dean as Micheal out for a lot longer than the Deanmon angle, but we shall see!

Arrowverse
Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow all were renewed for new seasons. I love all the crossovers that they have with these four shows, and they've even got a Superman featuring in a three episode crossover, later this year. Plus, we even get to see Batwoman - portrayed by Ruby Rose, who should be getting her own series later on. Can't wait for these four shows to come back.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
NINE-NINE! I'm soooooo happy this got picked up by NBC. I binged the entire five seasons in two weeks during the summer, and I'm nearly finished with it a second time. I love the characters, the story lines, and I'm constantly saying 'cool cool cool', 'noice' and 'smort' over and over!

What TV shows are you excited about returning, and which ones are you sad about getting cancelled? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Holiday Destinations Wanderlust List

Ever since Florida last year, I've got the bug for holidays. I've been on one holiday in the last 4 years, so the need is high! It's getting colder now, so I'm sat spending my days, dreaming about warmer climates, pools, and getting a tan. I've been to some of the below locations, and others are on the list to visit.

Florida

Disney world is here. Need I say more? I've been to Orlando Florida three times in my life. In 2001 when I was 9, and 2013 when I was 20 - and then last year for my 25th birthday. Disney and Universal are perfect for someone who likes roller coasters and theme parks in general. The heat isn't something I am a huge fan of, but I loved being there. Planning to go again in 2019 if I can get the time away from work.

Cornwall

This is actually the local beach where we go to! I've been to Cornwall every year since I was 11 months old to the same campsite, where we stay in one of the caravans there. It's the same thing every year, but I love being surrounded by the beach, fields and the little villages there. I've not been since 2015, so I am desperate to head back. Definitely one of my fave places on Earth.

France

I haven't been to France since I was 12 years old, but would love to go back. I would love to go to Paris, and then the south of France to some of the lesser-known tourist spots. I've been learning a little French over the last year - though not enough to be any good, it's a start at least! The above is from 2004, one a school trip where we went to a Zoo near Boulogne-sur-Mer.

Los Angeles
Other than shopping and the possible celeb spot, I'm not sure why this place is so appealing to me. It's a huge city and that would scare me to death with the crowds. But it looks so nice from pictures. TV and vlogs I've seen! I think the area would be really amazing to explore, and there are quite a lot of tourist attractions - plus it's not too far from DisneyLand in Ahaheim for a day trip.

New Zealand
I desperately need to go here! I want to see Hobbiton, and everywhere else in NZ that the LOTR and the Hobbit movies were filmed. The landscape looks breath taking and it would be so nice to go somewhere that is a long way from home. My Mum is going to NZ sometime in the next few years, and won't let me sneak into her suitcase!

What places would you like to visit for the first time, or venture back to? Let me know, as I'd love to hear your destinations! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)

Fave RuPaul's Drag Race Queens

Now don't get me wrong, all the queen's who have appeared on RPDR have been amazing in their own ways, but there are just some that have really stood out to me over the 10 seasons, and 3 All-Star spin-offs. I follow a lot of my faves on social media, so I can see what they're up to after their time on the show is over. These are not all of my most liked queens - as that list would be about 100 names strong - but the ones I am loving loads right now.

Alyssa Edwards
There was something that just clicked instantly with me and my love for Alyssa. I don't know if it's because, I too, enjoy staring at myself in a mirror, or just the copius amounts of catchphrases she came out with - hello there 'backrolls'! I loved her even more come All Stars 2, which gifted us with that wonderful lip-sync against Tatianna! Alyssa even has a docu-series on Netflix right now, which is on my to-watch list.

Bianca Del Rio
Immediately loved her and wanted her to win season 6. I wish I could have her level of wit and sarcasm, plus her Rolodex of hate! She is super talented, and has gone on to make a movie series called Hurricane Bianca. I love watching her reading people, it's so funny! She's a very talented queen.

Shangela
I wasn't a huge fan of Shangela in her debut in season 2, but then she came back in season 3 - and my mind was changed! I'd already seen her in a few TV shows beforehand, but nothing stuck in my mind - ntil I started saying 'Halleloo' on a daily basis! I loved her stand-up routine, and that is what made her become a fave. And then we had All Stars 3. She has improved so much over the years, and I was devastated that she didn't win after Dela's self elimination.

Shea Couleé
Her rap at the end of the Category Is Remix, was amazing and I made it my mission to learn it all. Still trying... She is such a great lip-sync performer, and her acting challenges were some of my favourites.

Ginger Minj
One of the stand outs of season 7 - along with Katya - Ginger just made me laugh my ass off. Her 'bitter old lady brigade' with some of the other queens was perfect. But what I love most, is the singing voice! I could listen to Ginger all day! This is a queen I keep up with quite frequently, as she follows me on twitter, and she's super active and replies to a lot of her followers.

Raven & Jujubee
Had to group these two together. Rujubee is a thing for ever, okay? Raven has some killer style and sass, and then Juju has some unearthly talent for lip-syncs. I cried during their lip-sync in All Stars 1, and it's what cemented them in my top 10.

BenDeLaCreme
Her winning streak with All Stars 3 was so impressive! I really wanted her to win, but after her shock self elimination, I was gagged. She has always had such a great personality, and still loving her Oh No She Better Don't rap!

Monét X Change
Still a new queen to me, I loved Monét for the humor she brought to season 10. The sponge dress was the start of it all, and then when she had that lip-sync with Dusty, and did a faux death-drop, I was crying with laughter for so long, I had to pause the episode! I'm looking forward to see what else this wonder gets up to.

Aja
Oooh this queen's GLOW UP between season 9 and All Stars 3 was AMAZING. Her re-do of Princess Disastah was so amazing. I don't know what she did in the few months between filming, but she killed it! Can't get over that death-drop jump she did in the talent show, but I love her more for the Valentina showdown during season 9's reunion!

Latrice Royale
Get those nuts away from my face!
Honestly this cemented her in my faves. I loved all her catchphrases about being large and in charge. Plus her laugh kills me everytime! I need to see more of what Latrice is up to these days, but I bet she's still taking over the world!

Who would make your list of fave RPDR queens? Honestly, this took me ages to narrow down the list, as I had about 20 people to start with! Which queens are your favorites, or the ones you're not so into? Let me know! Hope you have a great day and keep safe :)
