And if you're passionate about travel, movies can inspire you to visit locations where your favourite films were shot. And what better time to travel than during summer? With the sun rising, you can visit bustling cities, iconic beaches, and various movie locations worldwide, immersing you in an unforgettable travel experience. So, are you a movie fanatic needing inspiration for a movie-inspired trip? Here are some great movie locations you should visit this summer.
Rome, Italy
If you consider yourself a movie-lover, you owe it to yourself to visit Rome this year or at least once in your lifetime. This famous destination is steeped in history, culture, and romance, and it's been the setting for many classic films over the years. Iconic places in the city like the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain have all been featured in some of the best films (like "La Dolce Vita" and "Roman Holiday") over the years. You can explore these classic landmarks and even reenact some of your favourite movie scenes with friends and loved ones. Oh, and don't forget to indulge in the city's world-famous pizzas and pasta while you're there.
Skopelos, Greece
Greece attracts thousands of tourists every summer, but there's one location, in particular, you should consider visiting in this travel destination - Skopelos. This is the location for the famous and classic "Mamma Mia" movie, with most scenes taking place among lush greenery, perfectly blue sea, and spectacular cobblestone streets. Of course, this secluded island requires a short flight and a ferry ride, but you'll treat yourself to breathtaking views that are completely worth the ride.
Matmata, Tunisia
Are you a Star Wars fan? Then start planning a trip to Tunisia this Summer. Your destination is a small town called Matmata, famous for the Star Wars Movies. Unfortunately, many Star Wars fans don't realise that Tunisia was the primary filming location for the planet of Tatooine in both "A New Hope" and "Star Wars." but beyond Matmata, you'll also find several movie set locations in Tunisia, including Mos Espa, Tataouine and the island of Djerba. In fact, between Djerba, Tataouine and Matmata, you will visit all the filming locations of star wars. And this is about a three-day tour, extendable if you have the time. Aside from the movie locations, you can enjoy Tunisia's breathtaking view and unique culture before heading home. And be sure to grab some collectables while you're there. You can find some of the best star wars collectibles online if you're a Star Wars fan. So, don't worry if you cannot grab some from the movie location.
Atlanta, USA
Sometimes known as the new Hollywood of the South, Atlanta lives up to its name, hosting several new movies each year. If you're a fan of Spiderman, for example, you'll find this location a great destination this summer. You can also head downtown Atlanta to visit the Marriot Marquis, a popular hotel featured in the "Hunger Games" movies. The movie locations aside, Atlanta will welcome you with warm summer weather, diverse cuisines, rich history, and memorable sights and sounds.
